Before Your Piercing Appointment
Prepare for your appointment
A little preparation can help your piercing appointment feel smoother, more comfortable and less stressful.
- Eat before you arrive
Please have a proper meal before your appointment and arrive well hydrated. Piercing on an empty stomach can make some people feel faint or unwell.
If you know you are prone to fainting around needles, let your piercer know before the appointment begins.
- Avoid alcohol and recreational drugs
Please do not attend your appointment under the influence of alcohol or recreational substances.
If your piercer believes you are unable to give informed consent or that it would be unsafe to proceed, your appointment may need to be rescheduled.
- Age & ID Requirements
Please bring the appropriate identification to your appointment, if you are below 16 years old you must bring your ID with you.
Requirements may vary depending on your age and the piercing you are booking, and some placements may have a higher minimum age than others.
If you are unsure what identification you need, please contact Luna Nova before your appointment.
- Children’s Piercing
Studio Luna Nova offers selected piercings for children from 5 years old.
A parent or legal guardian must attend the appointment with the child.
Please bring:
the child’s valid photo ID where available, or their birth certificate
valid photo ID for the accompanying parent or legal guardian
Some piercing placements may have a higher minimum age depending on the piercing, anatomy and studio policy.
We take extra time with younger clients to help them feel comfortable, explain what will happen and make sure they are happy to proceed. We will never pressure a child into having a piercing if they do not feel ready.
- Wear suitable clothing
Choose comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being pierced.
For ear piercings, tying long hair back can make the appointment easier.
For body piercings, consider whether clothing may rub against the new piercing afterwards.
Tell us anything relevant
Please let your piercer know about anything that may be relevant to your appointment or healing, including:
allergies
previous reactions to jewellery
medical conditions
medications
skin conditions around the piercing area
previous difficulties healing piercings
a history of fainting
If you are unsure whether something is relevant, please ask.
- Jewellery for fresh piercings
Fresh piercings require jewellery that is appropriate for the placement, your anatomy and initial healing.
Your piercer will discuss the suitable jewellery options available before the procedure and help you select the correct size and style.
- Sterile Equipment & Safe Practice
At Studio Luna Nova, your safety and comfort are central to every piercing appointment.
We use single-use sterile piercing needles for every procedure. Each needle is opened specifically for the individual client and safely disposed of immediately after use.
We follow strict hygiene and infection-control procedures throughout the piercing process, including appropriate preparation of the piercing area, clean working practices and the use of suitable sterile equipment and jewellery.
Our aim is to provide every client with a piercing experience that feels professional, calm and well cared for from start to finish.
Planning a holiday, swimming or an event?
If you have a holiday, swimming trip, sporting event or other activity coming up, mention this before your piercing.
The timing may affect whether it is sensible to have a particular piercing immediately.
Not sure what piercing would suit you?
That is completely fine.
Your piercer can look at your anatomy, existing piercings and jewellery preferences and talk through suitable placement ideas before anything is carried out.
